Short answer: Both numbers appear in DHA’s own CBT Guideline, for different titles. A Registered Nurse, General Practice, General Dentist and Pharmacist have 150 questions in three hours, including registration time. Consultants and a few others have 100, and some allied titles have 70. Find your title in the guideline.
Is the DHA exam 100 questions or 150?
It depends on the title, and that is the whole reason sources disagree. DHA’s Computer Based Testing Guideline has a header line for each of 118 titles, and the number of questions is on it. Most general titles are 150. Consultants are 100. A few allied titles are 100 or 70.
A page that says “the DHA exam has 100 questions” may have copied the figure from a model paper, or from the row for a different title. A page that says 150 may be right for nurses and wrong for a consultant. Meddex is independent and is not connected to the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) or Prometric.
Key facts and where they come from
All figures are from DHA’s CBT Guideline, cover reads “Updated - Sep 2026”, read on 15 and 16 October 2026.
- Registered Nurse, Assistant Nurse, Registered Midwife: 150 questions, 3 hours.
- General Practice, General Dentist, Pharmacist: 150 questions, 3 hours.
- Consultants (six physician titles and seven dentist titles): 100 questions, 3 hours, pass score 70 percent.
- Specialist Hematopathology: 100 questions, 3 hours. It is the only specialist physician title with 100.
- Laser Hair Reduction (privilege and technician): 70 questions, 2 hours. Aesthetician, Cast Technician and Operation Theatre titles: 100 questions, 2 hours. Speech Therapist: 100 questions, 3 hours.
- The stated duration includes registration, process introduction and exam content. DHA may change content, format or pass score without updating the document.
Why do websites give different numbers?
We saw three causes in the pages we read, and they apply to any exam with many titles.
First, mixed titles: a page about consultants quotes 100, a page about nurses quotes 150. Second, old material: DHA says it can change the exam without updating the guideline, so a mirrored copy of an old paper or a past guideline can be out of date. Third, copying: one page repeats another. We cannot tell you which pages made which mistake, and we do not name sites, but the guideline itself is clear title by title.
What does 150 questions in three hours really give you?
DHA says the three hours include registration and introduction, so time for questions is less than 180 minutes, and the guideline does not say by how much. Dividing 180 minutes by 150 questions gives 72 seconds a question as an upper limit. For 100 questions in 3 hours, the same sum gives 108 seconds. For 100 in 2 hours it gives 72, and for 70 in 2 hours about 103. These are our arithmetic, not DHA’s figures.
Pacing practice should therefore use a number a little below the sum. Time management for 150-question and 120-question exams shows how to set checkpoints.
Is the DHA exam 2 hours, 2.5 hours or 3 hours?
You will see all three. DHA’s guideline gives 3 hours for most titles and 2 hours for a few, and says the stated duration includes registration, process introduction and exam content. A page that says about 2 hours, or 2.5 hours for 100 questions, may describe a different title, an older format or the part of the sitting spent on questions, and we cannot tell which. DHA does not say how the three hours split, so use the guideline figure for your title as the length of a mock and keep a little time in hand.
How to check your own title in five minutes
Do this before you build a plan.
- Open DHA’s CBT Guideline on the Sheryan site and find the category for your profession.
- Find your exact title. Note the code, number of questions, duration and pass score on its header line.
- Write the date you checked and the cover version, because DHA can change it.
- Compare with our table on DHA exam format and pass mark by title, which holds all 118 rows.
- Match your mocks to those numbers. The find your title guide walks through the layout.
