DHA pharmacy exams compared: pharmacist, clinical pharmacy and pharmacy technician

Short answer: DHA lists three pharmacy titles, all 150 questions in three hours. Pharmacist is 60 percent, Clinical Pharmacy 70 percent and Pharmacy Technician 55 percent. Pharmacist and Clinical Pharmacy share the same fourteen content areas, while the technician has its own list of nine. DHA files all three under allied healthcare.

Which DHA pharmacy exam is yours?

DHA’s CBT Guideline has three pharmacy rows, and the pass score depends on which one you hold. Candidates often read a pharmacist figure and apply it to a technician, or the reverse. This guide puts the three side by side so you can check your own. Meddex is independent and is not connected to the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) or Prometric.

Key facts and where they come from

All official, read in DHA’s CBT Guideline (cover “Updated - Sep 2026”) on 15 and 16 October 2026.

  • Pharmacist, code PHO5481: 150 questions, 3 hours, 60 percent.
  • Clinical Pharmacy, code PHO5482: 150 questions, 3 hours, 70 percent.
  • Pharmacy Technician, code PHT5451: 150 questions, 3 hours, 55 percent.
  • In the guideline all three sit under Allied Healthcare, not in a separate pharmacy category.
  • The stated time includes registration and process introduction.
  • DHA publishes content headings for each title but no weights.

How do the three rows compare?

The numbers are copied from the guideline. The area counts come from the headings DHA prints for each row.

DHA pharmacy exam rows (official, read October 2026)
TitleCodeQuestionsPass scoreContent headings
PharmacistPHO548115060 percentFourteen
Clinical PharmacyPHO548215070 percentThe same fourteen as Pharmacist
Pharmacy TechnicianPHT545115055 percentNine, with its own list

Is Clinical Pharmacy a harder version of the pharmacist exam?

The content list is the same fourteen headings as Pharmacist, according to the guideline, but the pass score is ten points higher. DHA does not say why, and it does not publish a pass rate, so we cannot say whether the questions themselves differ in depth. What the numbers support is narrower: you need to answer a larger share correctly. See the fourteen areas explained for the shared list.

What does the technician list contain?

DHA lists nine headings for Pharmacy Technician: Pharmacy Calculation, Pharmacokinetics, Pregnancy and Lactation, Pharmaceutical Care and Disease State Management, Sterile and Nonsterile Compounding, Over the Counter Medication, Infection Control, Pharmacy Law and Ethics, and Medication Safety.

Compare that with the pharmacist list. Toxicology, medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutics, pharmacognosy, pharmacogenomics and clinical pharmacology do not appear on the technician list, and Pregnancy and Lactation appears only there. Do not read this as a smaller exam: the technician row still has 150 questions in three hours.

What practice content is there?

Meddex has pharmacist questions as a first batch, and a free pharmacist practice set. They are written around the Pharmacist title. We do not have a bank written for Clinical Pharmacy or Pharmacy Technician, and full mocks are not offered for pharmacists. The pharmacists hub states what exists today, with counts from the data when the site is built.

How should each title plan its revision?

A pharmacist or clinical pharmacist has fourteen headings and should plan in groups. One group is the science, covering medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutics, pharmacokinetics and toxicology. Another is practice, covering compounding, calculation, over the counter medication and disease state management. A third is safety and rules, covering medication safety, infection control, law and ethics. A technician has nine headings, so can usually plan heading by heading, with calculation and compounding as the daily practice and law and ethics as the short, regular slot.

In every case, practise calculations by hand and under time, since arithmetic slips are the cheapest marks to lose. Because DHA does not publish weights, give each heading at least one visit, and use your results, not your preferences, to decide where the extra slots go. See how to turn headings into a plan.
