Do DHA allied health titles share a syllabus? What overlaps between the 47 titles

Short answer: DHA does not publish one allied health syllabus. Each of the 47 allied titles has its own list of content headings, and our count found 34 different lists. Some headings recur across many titles, including patient safety, ethics and professionalism, anatomy and physiology, and infection control. Technician and assistant titles often share a list.

Is there one DHA syllabus for allied health?

No. DHA’s CBT Guideline gives each title its own list of content headings, so there is no single allied health syllabus. But the lists are not unrelated. Several headings return again and again, and some titles use an identical list. This guide shows how far the overlap goes, from a count we made, and how to use it without over-trusting it. Meddex is independent and is not connected to the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) or Prometric.

Key facts and where they come from

The guideline is official. The counts below are ours, made by reading the headings of all 47 allied titles on 18 October 2026, and can be off by one or two because the PDF wraps some headings.

  • DHA’s guideline lists 47 allied health titles, and every one lists content headings with no weights. Official.
  • We counted 34 distinct heading lists among the 47 titles. Our count.
  • Patient or health safety appears in 25 of the 47 lists. Our count.
  • Ethics or professionalism appears in 22, anatomy and physiology in 20 and infection control in 17. Our count.
  • Communication, counselling or education appears in 9, pharmacology in 8, and emergencies or life support in 7. Our count.
  • Technician, technologist and assistant titles often share a list. Our reading.

Which headings recur most?

Safety comes first, followed by ethics and professionalism, then anatomy and physiology, then infection control. Those four headings, or close variants of them, show up in a majority or near majority of allied lists. Communication, pharmacology and emergencies appear in far fewer.

This is a count of heading words, not of questions. A heading appearing in many lists says nothing about how many questions it carries, because DHA publishes no weights. Treat it as a hint about where a short, regular revision slot repays itself.

Why do many titles use the same list?

The count of 34 lists for 47 titles means that thirteen titles repeat another title’s list. In practice that mostly means technician, technologist and assistant titles in the same field, or in related fields, use one heading list. For the pairs DHA writes with a higher level, the pass score still differs, which our guide on technician and technologist pass scores shows.

A shared list is not proof of a shared exam. DHA gives each row its own code, so assume each row has its own paper.

How can you use the overlap?

Three ways, none of which replaces your own list.

  1. Build a thin common core. If safety, ethics, infection control and anatomy are on your list, give them a regular short slot, since they are on many lists and cheap to revise.
  2. Borrow technique, not content. A guide written for another allied title, such as the physiotherapist areas, shows how to turn headings into a plan even where the topics differ.
  3. Check your own row first. If your list has headings none of the examples above mention, those are where your title is unusual, and they need the most care.

What practice content is there?

Meddex has shared clinical questions tagged for allied health, written for patient safety, infection control, emergencies, pharmacology basics and ethics, and no questions written for individual allied titles. The allied health hub gives the counts from the data when the site is built. Those shared topics overlap with the recurring headings above, so they are a reasonable core, but not a substitute for the content of your own row.
