DHA clinical psychology exam: what DHA publishes and what a psychologist should check

Short answer: DHA’s CBT Guideline lists Clinical Psychology (CPS5071) as 150 multiple-choice questions in three hours, including registration time, with a pass score of 55 percent. We found no separate exam row for counsellors or social workers. A title that is not in the guideline is assessed orally, so check yours in Sheryan.

Do psychologists sit the DHA exam?

The guideline has a row for Clinical Psychology, so a clinical psychologist whose title is listed sits the same kind of computer-based exam as other allied titles. Other psychology-related titles, such as counsellor or social worker, did not appear as separate rows in the 118 titles we read. This guide sets out what is official, what we could not confirm and how to find the answer for your own title. Meddex is independent and is not connected to the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) or Prometric.

Key facts and where they come from

Official, read in DHA’s CBT Guideline (cover “Updated - Sep 2026”) on 24 October 2026, unless a line says otherwise.

  • Clinical Psychology, code CPS5071: 150 questions, 3 hours, pass score 55 percent. Official.
  • The stated time includes registration, process introduction and exam content. Official.
  • Titles not listed in the guideline are assessed through an oral assessment. Official, from the guideline’s preview page.
  • DHA lists eight content headings for the title, but no published area weights.
  • The qualification and experience a psychologist needs sit in the PQR, which we did not read for psychology. Not confirmed by us.
  • DHA can change the content, the format or the pass score without updating the guideline. Official.

What does the Clinical Psychology row tell you?

The row gives the number of questions, the stated time, the pass score and eight coverage headings. It does not tell you how the score is weighted by area, how many options each item has or what a question looks like. DHA’s Assessment Manual says results are based on the number of correct answers and the weighting of each domain, so some headings may count more than others, and DHA does not publish which.

A pass score of 55 percent sits in the middle of DHA’s range of 45 to 70 across titles. That is a fact about the number, not about difficulty, since DHA publishes no pass rate.

What if your title is counsellor, social worker or another psychology role?

Take it step by step. First, search the guideline for your exact title by name and code. If there is no row, the guideline says titles not listed are assessed orally. Second, use the free Self-Assessment Tool in Sheryan, which DHA’s FAQ describes as the way to see how your qualification is read. If your title is not in the PQR, the FAQ says to choose the closest title and that DHA’s credentialing team will select the suitable one. Third, ask DHA through your Sheryan account. Our guide on oral assessment or computer-based test explains what changes if you are sent to the oral route.

What have other websites said, and can you rely on it?

One consultancy page we saw describes qualification criteria for psychologists, including a doctoral degree and experience, and says it reproduces DHA wording. We did not verify that against the PQR, so treat it as reported, not confirmed. The same applies to claims about assistant-level psychology titles. Read the PQR chapter for your profession in the current copy and use the Self-Assessment Tool instead of relying on a summary.

What practice content is there?

Meddex does not have a question bank for psychology as of the date of this page, and full mocks are not offered for allied titles. The allied health hub says what the shared questions cover, and how to turn headings into a plan works for any title, including this one.
