The last 14 days before your exam: a plan that repairs, rehearses and then rests

Short answer: Spend the last 14 days in four phases: days 14 to 12 find your gaps with a timed mock, days 11 to 8 repair them with questions and one-line rules, days 7 to 4 rehearse with a second mock and spaced review, and days 3 to 1 taper, check logistics and sleep. Do not start large new topics after day 5.

The idea behind the plan

By two weeks out, you cannot learn a whole subject, but you can change what you do with what you know. Retrieval practice, spaced review and sleep all have good evidence behind them for memory. This plan turns those into days. It suits the DHA exam and the EMREE, and the pacing numbers differ only in the mock length. Meddex is independent and is not connected to the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) or Prometric.

Days 14 to 12: find the gaps

Day 14: sit a full timed mock in the real format, 150 questions in three hours for most DHA titles, or 120 in three hours for the EMREE. Do not pause. Day 13: review it for as long as you spent sitting it, grouping misses by domain and cause. Day 12: write your top ten gaps and your top three careless habits, such as skipping the last line of the stem. The mock exam analysis guide shows the method.

Days 11 to 8: repair

Two blocks a day, each about 60 to 90 minutes. Block one is a gap: read briefly, then do 20 to 30 questions on it in tutor mode and write a one-line rule for every miss. Block two is mixed: 30 questions across domains, so that nothing you studied goes cold. Add 10 minutes of flashcards on facts you must recall. Keep an error log in one file and read it each evening.

Days 7 to 4: rehearse

Day 7: a second full mock, at the time of day of your exam if you can. Day 6: review it, and compare the domain pattern with the first mock. Day 5: two short timed sets of 40 questions in 60 minutes and the error log. Day 4: a light day with flashcards, calculations and the rules file. The last 7 days guide has the logistics for this week, and the DHA final week plan is built around the DHA domains.

Days 3 to 1: taper

Day 3: one short set and the rules file, nothing new. Day 2: logistics, which means identification, route, a margin for travel, and a clear head. Day 1: very light review in the morning, an early evening, a normal meal and a decent bedtime. The last 24 hours plan gives an hour-by-hour version.

Protect sleep, because memory needs it

Sleep consolidates what you learned, and short nights in the last week cost more than an extra hour of revision gains. Keep a regular bedtime, avoid late screens and caffeine late in the day. Shift workers can read how to study on night shifts.

What if you are not ready?

Be honest on day 12 with the numbers in front of you. Rules differ by organiser. DHA’s Assessment Manual says you can reschedule or cancel up to five calendar days before the exam, and that fees are non-refundable. The EMREE organiser says date changes and fee transfers are not allowed once enrolled. Read the current policy before you decide, and do not assume you can move the date.

What not to do

Do not start a new textbook. Do not sit a third full mock in the last three days. Do not compare your score with strangers online. Do not use material that claims to be real exam questions, because both organisers say sharing questions is not allowed.

A plan is only a plan. If a night shift or a family event takes a day, move on and keep the order of the phases. Practise with Meddex if it helps, but only after you have read the organiser’s own pages.
