The five TCIM titles in DHA’s guideline, with their codes, format and pass score, and an honest note on what Meddex does not cover.
Short answer: DHA’s CBT Guideline lists 5 traditional, complementary and integrative medicine (TCIM) titles: acupuncture, ayurveda, hijama, homeopathy and unani. Each is 100 questions with a stated time of 2 hours, including registration, and a pass score of 60 percent. Check your own row, because DHA can change it.
100 for each of the 5 titles, fewer than the 150 listed for most other titles.
Stated time
2 hours, which DHA says includes registration, process introduction and exam content.
Pass score
60 percent for all five titles in the guideline we read.
Format
Multiple-choice questions, computer based. DHA does not state the number of options.
01Chapter 1
What does DHA list for TCIM practitioners?
TCIM is one of the five categories in DHA’s CBT Guideline, next to nurses and midwives, physicians, dentists and allied health. It holds 5 titles: Acupuncture Practitioner, Ayurveda Practitioner, Hijama Therapist, Homeopathy Practitioner, Unani Practitioner. Each title is a separate row with its own code, so a practitioner of one therapy does not sit the paper of another.
The guideline’s cover reads "Updated - Sep 2026". DHA says it can change the content, the format or the pass score without updating the document, so use the current copy and the date on its cover.

How does the TCIM format compare with other titles?
All five rows have the same shape. They have 100 questions in a stated time of two hours, and the pass score is 60 percent. Most other DHA titles have 150 questions in three hours, so TCIM papers are shorter, though the pace per question is the same. Divide the stated time by the questions and you get about 1.2 minutes each, before registration and introduction time are taken off.
DHA says the stated duration includes registration, the process introduction and the exam content, so you will have less than two hours of answering time. It also says results are pass or fail only, and that the score and a topic review are not shared.
What do the TCIM exams cover?
DHA lists content headings for each title, as it does for every title in the guideline, and publishes no weights. We have not copied the TCIM headings onto this page, because we have not checked them row by row for each of the five titles and prefer not to give you a list we cannot stand behind. Read your own row in the guideline and treat the headings as the outline of what can be asked.
DHA’s Assessment Manual says results are calculated from the number of correct answers and the weighting of each domain. The weights are not published, so cover every heading on your list. Our guide to [turning headings into a study plan](/blog/how-to-turn-dha-content-headings-into-a-study-plan) works for any title.
04Chapter 4
How do you check your own title?
Four steps, all on DHA’s documents.
Open the current CBT Guideline and find the TCIM section. Use the code, not only the therapy name.
If your therapy is not one of the five, note that the guideline says titles it does not list are assessed orally. Chiropractic and other therapies are not among the five TCIM rows we read, so ask DHA about yours.
Use the free Sheryan Self-Assessment Tool to see how DHA reads your qualification, and the PQR for the qualification and experience DHA asks for. We did not read the TCIM chapters of the PQR, so we state no qualification rule here.
Check the mode of exam for your title in Sheryan before you plan, since an oral assessment is a different format.
What Meddex covers today
Meddex does not have a question bank, flashcards or mocks for any TCIM title as of the date of this page, and full-length mocks are not offered for allied or TCIM titles. The free assessment gives a short mixed set on shared clinical topics, which can help with basics such as patient safety, infection control and ethics, but it is not written for your therapy.
For the content of your own therapy, use the reference list DHA prints for your row, your training materials and your council’s guidance. Our guide to [the references DHA lists](/blog/dha-exam-reference-books-what-the-guideline-lists) explains how to use a reference list well.
Where do the shorter exams sit among the rest?
The TCIM titles are not the only papers below 150 questions. Our guide on [which DHA exams have fewer than 150 questions](/blog/which-dha-exams-have-fewer-than-150-questions) lists them all, with their time and pass score, so you can compare.
